Middle Of The Road

_DSC3101
In a perfect world I'd provide more answers than questions on this blog.
But I have no idea why this sidewalk runs down the middle of Pacific Blvd.
There have been rumblings about a streetcar line running here but I don't know if there's a connection.

Illuminate Yaletown ...

_DSC6340
… is an event organized by the Yaletown Business Improvement Association.
As a rule I wouldn't go out on a rainy night to take pictures.
But there were photo class assignments I thought I might knock off at the same time so I went.
I didn't get anything remarkable but it was a surprise to see how many people braved the rain.

Twisted

This image has suffered my 'Lightroom' treatment.

I doubt if Arthur Erickson (1924-2009) had much design input on 'The Erickson'

Yes, it's a wonky building, the floors are twisted.

I'd have named it Scoliosis.

And that's just one of the reasons I'm never asked to name condos towers.

Equestrian

In October I posted this image from the Eastside Culture Crawl.

I've known for a couple of months that the finished piece was installed in Yaletown but only saw it for the first time the other evening.

I think the piece deserves to be installed in a more prominent location.

But I'm rarely asked for my opinion on such matters.

Flashback

I took this last January or February. I recall it being quite nippy.

This shot was taken with my 'toy' camera so it looks a bit grainy, especially when biggerized.

Yaletown Park

Apparently this is what passes for a park in Yaletown.

This is a relatively new space I guess. At least I never noticed it before.

Lawns tend to be bad for the environment but I'd prefer to see a park with a little vegetation.

Once the pavers are covered with green algae (everything in Vancouver gets covered in the stuff) it may be more inviting.
