Stuff And Such

I'm not much of a one for acquiring bric-a-brac.
But if I were I'd check out this place.

Just a random shot chosen from hundreds taken in Hong Kong in 2012.

Sunday Feature ~ Another Place, Another Time
I was quite interested in the progress of the Getty in LA back in the 90s when it was under construction.
Once it was completed the effect of the California sun bouncing off all the light surfaces was a big issue.
I've been up there two or three times.
The reflected sunlight doesn't seem to bother anyone much.

Save The Whales

Not this one I'm afraid.
I expect it will be on its way to the landfill along with the rest of the building in pretty short order.
Wyland has painted lots of similar 'whaling walls' all over the world.

School's Out

At least it was when I created this post (Sept. 8).
All B.C. teachers are on strike and nobody thinks there's anything funny about that.

About 30 years ago I had my Canon AE-1 stolen on a train from Milan to Nice.
I don't have any pictures of Nice or whatever came after on that trip.
Insurance replaced the Canon with a Minolta Maxxum 7000i (my choice) which had a lot more bells and whistles.
The Minolta still works fine although it sat untouched for more than 10 years.
Lately I often lug it around with me but I rarely actually photograph with it.
For me the nostalgia of the whole film thing doesn't actually outweigh the nuisance.
I only pay to have the film developed with the idea that I'll do the scanning and printing.
My part of the job can be time consuming and frustrating.
It won't surprise me if the camera soon goes back in the closet for another 10 years or more.
