Alaska bound cruise ships park in the berths at Canada Place daily from May to October. The rest of the year the berths are usually open.
Canada Place which includes the Pan Pacific Hotel, the trade an convention centre, an office complex and an Imax Theatre was designed to resemble a ship, complete with sails.

It was nice to be able to see the ship with the sails.
I still have the old blogs but I also have new ones Abe Lincoln Blogs and also look at Abraham Lincoln's Blog
I remember docking there! It's really fun to cruise through Vancouver -- the only problem is, you want to just stop there and stay instead of proceeding up to Alaska. It's so beautiful there.
Ooh ooh I've been there! I recognise the centre built like sails - I wonder if I've got pictures anywhere?
Those sails and the vibrant blue sky make for a gorgeous shot!
My room in the Pan Pacific overlooking the city was spectacular. What a hotel!
Well that's one long walk downtown! Bet you're worn slap out. Guess by the time you got there, you'd forgotten what you went after! W., just take a darn taxi home.
PS Canada Place looks mighty swell. Not a bad view either.
The last time my wife and i were in Vancouver, maybe 2 or 3 years ago, we ate at that swanky restaurant in the Pan Pacific Hotel overlooking the harbor (can't remember the name). Expensive but WOW was it good. A nice memory of your city.
Much of the fun of being part of CDP is seeing places we've never been. Another part is seeing places we have been.
Bob, If it was pricey it sounds like Five Sails. There used to be a restaurant right at the end to the building called the Prow but it met it's demise when Canada Place was extended to accommodate more cruise ships.
I'll be watching to see if the downturn in the economy has any effect on the cruise lines in 2009.
Thanks for your comments.
Great trip Downtown, Wayne.
I like the white sail against the blue sky. Simple, but striking picture.
Thanks for the tour! What's up next?
Those sails are such a lovely, whimsical — and appropriate — touch. Love it.
I got a chance to see Canada Place but never had a chance to get inside. Last June, I am not sure which one is being renovated, I just heard from tourist guide it is for the preparation for Winter Olympics which will be held in Vancouver and Whistler in 2010. Five days staying in Vancouver is not enough to see all wonderful places there.
