Snow Up To Here

This shot is from a section of the seawall that borders the Second Beach Swimming Pool at Stanley Park.

Unless I start taking pictures of the furniture in my apartment we're going to have to endure a few more days of snow photos.

Today I went to Stanley Park and the West End and it seemed like there were potential shots everywhere I looked. It wasn't very crowded where I wandered but practically everyone I encountered had a camera out.

It may look cold but it wasn't. I didn't wear my gloves and my parka was open all day. At many intersections it became necessary to jump over or wade through snow half way to my knees from the plows and fairly deep puddles of snow melt trapped by the snow. In a nutshell, it was above 0º C.

The temperature tonight may get to -7º C but it's forecast to hover around freezing for the next few days with rain by Friday. Things get quite ugly once the rain starts. It's a mess for a day or three.

This is quite a picture. I can see a few ships out on the sea and that person in the red coat just adds the perfect touch. Very nice. I can't picture that much snow in Vancouver. This must be a rare occasion.

I know exactly where that is. I have a pic of me there looking back towards False Creek and Burrard Bridge. Quite weird to see it snow covered. Great shot though!

I'll never get tired of these snow pictures. I might get tired of trudging through it and having numb fingers -- but then again, my fingers get numb when it's under 50 degrees and I feel pretty silly wearing mittens while looking at bouganvillea and palm trees.

This is a perfect snow photo Wayne, that splash of red amid all that blue and white. Bravo!

We always hear about those "Canadian winters" down here in California, and this is how we picture them in our minds.

My word verification is "goodies". 8^)

Well I can stand as many of these snow photographs as you want. This is gorgeous - fabulous snow and that marvellous swirl of cloud and then that figure in red. Perfect!

The snow is the "real" world, love it. Be sure to show us the soupy mess if the rain comes.

Oh my, that's a beautiful sight. How lucky you were to walk there. (I agree with what Laurie said above, I never get tired of pictures of snow! Well, maybe about February or March I do. But not yet!!)

I just reread my text and realized I'd made a typo which I've corrected.

I try hard not to look like a nincompoop but it's a futile effort.

The enlargement of this photograph is amazing, from a Florida point of view. Just mind blowing with the ships and the birds for extra added goodness.

I beg your forgiveness for my cutting and pasting – yet constantly reworking – this comment, but there was no way on Earth I would be able to make it around the whole globe to wish everybody a Merry Christmas otherwise.

You cannot know the pain it causes me to admit that I am a mere mortal (and that the magical elves on my staff have little respect for my authority or their salary packages. Consequently, the reindeer are all filthy and out of shape and the elves that have shown up for work all seem a little worse for wear, if you catch my drift. All they seem to do is sit around smoking, playing cards and telling dirty jokes!

Anyway, myself, Henry and Ezra, would dearly like to wish you a Merry Christmas/Winter Solstice/Hanukkah/Festivus and a happy New Year!

We hope that all of your holiday photos turn out to be triumphs, your Yule logs firm and that Santa treats you kindly this year!

Ooh no, carry on with snow pictures - it's the closest I'm going to get to a white Christmas.

Hope you have a great Christmas Wayne, thanks for all your comments on my blog over the year :)

Great photo, especially when enlarged. Feels like you can just step into the picture. I wish we had some snow here, would be great for some real winter shots. Just visiting your blog for the first time and am enjoying it. Feel free to visit and comment on mine, which is still quite new on CDP.
