Market Bags

I sense many furrowed brows trying to figure out the title.

Perhaps I should sign up for Theme Day. I like the lines in this shot. Most of them are trolley wires (called the overhead). I am a big fan of our trolley system and may post more on it one of these days. But that isn't what this post is about.

It's about the banners, sort of. I knew the banners were sometimes put up for auction when they were replaced but I gather many were scrapped. Now they are used by an organization called Sewing With Heart. The banners are made into market shopping bags by people with mental illness and sold at local businesses.

I hadn't heard about this until I read an old magazine in the doctor's office. It's a worthy enterprise that deserves more publicity.

WHat a cool idea! And Wayne, this is a great shot. I really like those criss-crossing lines.

More publicity for all the good things going on in our cities is what I'm all about. Thanks for sharing this one. BTW, a day without a "Wayne Wisecrack" on my blog is like a day without sunshine! HA

Great colours, I like them. That's a very inventive way of recycling.

I may have messed up your Google reader for a few days as I've had to put pics up in advance up to/including Monday next week. Hope you still manage to visit!
