Well Jilly at Monte Carlo did some research and some must call this Virginia Creeper and here we call it Boston Ivy. May be two different varieties. Never seen it climb like this. It's just beautiful.
Oh and thanks for the teaser about City Hall. Now I won't sleep a wink in anticipation!!
Jill, I'd say it's us. I recall this ivy in other parts of the city when I was a kid and I was hugely impressed with the red colour in the fall.
V. I don't know what this is for sure. Apparently they are related and the difference is in the leaf pattern. Personally, I prefer the name Boston Ivy and I imagine you do too.
Laurie,Hope, the parks people let this stuff grow up his lamp post and along a concrete wall but they keep it under control.

Love that ivy!
The ivy is beautiful but it's about to overtake the light fixture! Yikes!
I do like the color and texture combination in this photograph. Sometimes it is the simple things that we overlook. This is nice.
I am doing something different on my Gordon blog. I set out to photograph and describe every house in the village where I was born in 1934.

Oh, this is gorgeous. Ivy never turns this kind of color here. I love the way it looks like it's going to completely take over that light post.
What a eye-catcher. Are the colors this fall extraordinary, or is it that we are out seeing and photographing them more?
