This year Diwali is celebrated today. The sweets are a popular part of the celebration. So much so that BSSR takes over the sit down part of the store to spread out an overflow of sweets.
Those who have tried them will know that sweets doesn't adequately describe these confections. The few I've tried were too sweet for me.

it looks so good !
Is this the Bhai religion? We have neighbors that belong to that faith. Don't know a lot about it. The sweets look really sweet! I will stick to birthday cake-ha
Happy Diwali to you too! I'm with you on the sweeeeeeeeeeet sweets - I've got several Indian sweet shops near me and do go in and buy them occasionally, but I can only manage a bit at a time as it's so sweet.
Virginia, I believe Diwali is a Hindu festival. Actually in my area it's mainly Muslims so I've not seen too much in the way of Diwali celebrations. Now Eid on the other hand - :)
I tried some of it before and really didn't like it. It sort of taste weird...
you gotta pay to play!
Those do look delicious, but if they are too sweet then I would only be able to eat a little.
I'd give them a try...we don't have much Indian cuisine available around here. But this explains what a boy in my daughter's first-grade class was trying to explain yesterday. That it was a holiday with lots of sweets, but he couldn't remember the name. His parents are from India.
This looks like a great place to grab some curry and a lassi!
