Controversy

This is the new, weeks old, seaplane base in Coal Harbour.
The largest seaplane company is resisting re-locating in a dispute over user fees.
They continue to operate out of trailers and a temporary dock instead of the nice waiting rooms and modern floats at the new terminal.
Staying put also stalls the opening of a section of the seawall that has been blocked for years.
I suspect if they don't move voluntarily they'll be forced to move PDQ.

Turbo Single Otter

The de Havilland Otters and Beavers make great subjects.

Access to them in Burrard Inlet is limited to one good vantage point.

Arriving from 'the island' (Vancouver Island)

Looking past the Stanley Park seawall toward Coal Harbour with a nice view of the container cranes (see banner) in the distance.

Seaplanes 2

Coal Harbour is like a Greyhound Bus Station for seaplanes. They come and go continuously during daylight hours.

In fog things comes to a grinding halt.
