Penny Grocery

The store is no longer but the signs linger on.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Chevron Town Pantry was a factor in Penny Grocery's demise.

Wayne did you plan this photo to coincide with the demise of the Canadian penny? If so, you are a genius.

I had the same idea too.

At this point a genius would say 'yep that was my plan'.

But nope, it was a coincidence.

Too bad this grocery store with the great name is gone. Always liked shopping in the smaller grocery stores. They often specialized in something unique, even if it was a more personal touch with customers. Didn't know the Canadian penny was gone.

The Mint has stopped making pennies. Merchants will start rounding up and rounding down. I don't know how long it will take for the penny to be just a fond memory but I'm fine with the move to eliminate it.

I generally collect pennies on my dresser, and take them to the bank when the dish fills up, but there is little call for them. I can get a bus transfer for seven cents, so two pennies comes in handy here, but that's rare. The U.S. doesn't mint a penny, it's one cent, but is still called a penny by almost everyone.
