Coast Guard

The Seabus Burrard Otter is the second largest vessel in the Canadian navy. In the event of a seaborne attack during the Olympics the seabus will toot it's horn several times in a threatening way.

Just a little joke.

It's the third largest vessel in our navy.

But seriously folks. I know I'm going to be accused of concocting some lame excuse so I can post crane pics. But this is an Olympic related post.

That Coast Guard cutter wasn't just sailing by. It's stopped there guarding Canada Place. Or as they say in the navy, parked.

On the latest list of likely terrorist targets Canada Place came just before a Dairy Queen in Yak and just after a Shell station in Spuzzum (yes they're both real and both in B.C.)

But those cranes are really something aren't they?

Correct me and send me in a different direction if I'm mistaken, but isn't Yak near Lake Koocanusa and Eureka, Montana?

So, Wayne, are there any other cranes up there in Vancouver??? -:)

I can't slip anything by you Chuck. I spelled it wrong, it's Yahk and it's in the Kootenays. I think you'd have gone through Yahk on your recent trip. I can understand how you might have missed it. I'm not sure it even qualifies for 'wide spot in the road' status.

Oddly, and I don't for a second think this is a coincidence, Yaak, MT is less than 100 miles due south.

Yes, I we do have more cranes. Thanks for asking. I'll be happy to do a month long series. All you have to do is ask :-)

But fair warning, if you do you might have to relocate to someplace like Yaak and change your name.
