Name dropping

There was a timely historical item in the local bi-weekly a couple of weeks ago. I took this pic just prior to the seeing the article and was planning to use it soon. As a result of my dithering I now have more facts to pass along.

The Oppenheimer Group is celebrating their 150th anniversary. The four Oppenheimer brothers, who emigrated from the States, started out provisioning prospectors heading to the gold fields of B.C. about 1858.

In 1886 a warehouse was built on this site and was razed fairly soon after in the Great Fire of 1886 (I remember it like it was yesterday). This building replaced it. The firm's warehouse is in the suburbs now and deals in fresh fruit and vegetables.

Here's the juicy bit. You didn't hear this from me, but, this building was extensively renovated 10 or 12 years ago and now houses a recording studio owned by Bryan Adams.

I knew you'd be impressed.

Actually, everyone in Vancouver knows it's Adams' studio.

Wayne, don't make me blow coffee out my nose this early with lines like "I remember it like it was yesterday."

:-)

I really like this shot, and old buildings like this one.

What's that guy been recording lately? I hadn't heard his name in a while, but it has a pleasant connotation.

Even if he had a new album Diva I might not hear about it. I don't listen to radio that plays that style of music.
I only listen to stations that play medieval chants.

I guess you've just shared Vancouver's secret with half the world!
I used to be in love with Bryan Adams a long time ago...
