D.C. Metro

From The Archives

Over the years I've only managed to visit Washington, D.C. a few times.

When I'm there the Metro stations are an irresistible draw.

Moonlit

If it weren't for Google Maps I wouldn't know this spire belonged to

the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church. 

It never dawned on me to check when I was there, plus I didn't know where I was.

So Many Museums ...

… so little time.

This is as close as I got to the National Museum of American History.

I'm back in Seattle now.

Striping

Enough of museums and monuments. 

Here's the real reason I came to D.C., road work.

How come ...

… nobody ever says anything?

I walked into the National Building Museum more by chance than intention.

I could hardly believe my eyes.

Nowhere did I read, 'you have to see this building …'

This is what it looked like the when I went back the following day.

As soon as I clapped eyes on it I knew the National Museum of the American Indian 

was designed by Douglas Cardinal.

Near my hotel is the Arena Stage at Mead Centre for American Theatre. 

I knew right away that it was a Bing Thom building because of the wood elements. 

He's used them elsewhere.

I took the shot below to jog my memory. If I'd planned to post it I'd have tried a little harder.
