This forgotten image turned up when I was cleaning up a hard drive.

It's from the last trip to Montreal.

Most surface parking lots downtown seem to have these shacks.
Even though it appears disused the nearer shack served my purposes nicely.

Nadia

I rarely stop to listen to buskers. But Nadia had an exceptional voice and I listened to a couple of songs. I didn't ask but I think she was singing her own material.

Vieux Port

Montreal has done a great job of making the riverfront accessible around Old Montreal. The lighting on this grain elevator wouldn't have any practical purpose, it's just a nice touch. 

Montreal 2

Tomorrow I fly back to Vancouver, otherwise known as the polar opposite of Montreal. Montreal has history, architecture, culture (and a transit system) that is uncommon or unknown in the west. There aren't any outstanding photos here but these buildings are within two blocks of my hotel.

 Gothic (neo-gothic) is run-of-the-mill in Montreal

There are no signs but this appears to be part of the Congrégation de Notre Dame. I love these old institutional buildings.

While Vancouver freezes with record low temperatures I'm spending time in drizzly Montreal where the current temp. is +5º C.

I'm a big fan of old signage.

Dawson College is just a block from where I'm staying in Westmount. 

Like so many historic buildings in Montreal this one started out as a religious institution.

This building, built around 1897, was the Mother House of the Congrégation de Notre Dame and is now part of the modern college.
