Year Of The Dragon

_DSC5443-2
It's been dampish for the past couple of Chinese New Year parades.
It doesn't seem to keep the crowds away or dampen anyone's enthusiasm.
(these aren't very sharp images, I was struggling with low light, wide open apertures, yada, yada …)

Chinese New Year Parade

Chinese New Year Parade 2011
It was kinda wet.
But that didn't seem to affect the spectator turnout at all.

There will be one or two more CNY photos this week,
like it or not.

The Year of the Tiger

I heard rumours that the community was not happy about the changing of the long standing traditional schedule for the event.

But if anyone was unhappy it wasn't evident. There was a huge crowd and the weather co-operated against all predictions.

Oh, I forgot to mention that the Carnival Band was in the p****e.

Even More CNY Parade

That's all I've got from the Chinese New Year Parade for this year.

This lion was good enough to pose for me.

Chinese New Year Parade

The parade travels for about 10 city blocks or approximately 1 km. This is about the half way point and there is little indication here that anyone's enthusiasm is flagging although most participants are pretty wet.

Waiting For The Parade

The Year of the Ox (I are one) made a soggy entrance in Vancouver.

Since things are rather slow here at VDP I expect I'll be posting the results of my trip to Chinatown, in foul weather I hasten to add, for a couple of days.

The temperature was just above freezing but didn't seem to have much effect on the turnout.
