Convenience Store

Pender Grocery
Photographically speaking, these one-off Mom and Pops have 7-Eleven beat by a country mile.
Not too many survive these days.

When I was a kid these Mom and Pop stores were an important part of the neighbourhood.

Old memory for me Wayne as I used to live in the 500 block in '74 -'75. I believe I was in that place a few times for smokes. Thanks.

We have one street in town that has a collection of these small shops, and altho quite modern, it has the same feel of small town. Unfortunately, many of the blocks are being taken over by larger chains. . .ruins it all!

Judging by all the hardware, I'm guessing this is in a rough neighborhood? Or are they just trying to keep the American backpackers out.

I prefer the smaller, family owned businesses as well.

KB, it's not a rough neighbourhood but it's close to one.

I'm sure they're trying to keep all backpackers out. :-)

Thanks for the comments

Sadly we don't have many of these in the valley.

I agree - though they don't look very welcoming, do they?!

I just photograph 'em. I never actually go inside. No they don't look very inviting. I'm probably missing out on more great photo ops. :-)
