Kathy, I can't get into that debate but what I didn't know, and what a lot of people may not know, is that the Afghan Girl was not a 'one off' grab shot. It was a formal shooting session. I only learned this very recently listening to an interview with Steve McCurry.
That image has made him lots of money and he's still gracious in answering questions about it after all these years. But I can't help thinking that by now he might secretly wish he wasn't so strongly associated with that one image.
I've personally always been much more fond of this shot of his, (you'll have to copy and paste I think)
I like your's so much better Wayne...the texture of the skin and scarf...the dignity of the man...the bokeh effect of the background...and his eyes have a soul deep depth that is mesmerizing...

You have every reason to be happy with this portrait. It's excellent.
Great portrait. It does justice to the guy. With dignity.
It is as good as the "Afghan Girl" (which I LOVE), but with a different subject. Great job!
Wonderfully shot!
Congratulations. This is a very impressive photograph.
Fabulous shot Wayne!!!
And actually...I think it's much better than the Afghan Girl....
Thanks for all the kind comments.

CaT, The Chieftess is Kathy and vis versa. :-)
No, he didn't pose. I think he was a bit suspicious of what I was up to.
