Funny so much different styles at the same time all over the world.
Another grand old building. If it were rebuilt today it would have no brick and the outer skin would be all glass.
Looks like the penthouse was an addition.
I agree Paul, the penthouse doesn't really fit. If it was added it happened before 1945. See VPL photo:

Interesting! I clicked on the link and was surprised to see it the same...definitely looks like the penthouse was built so long ago, in that different style...
One of the things I love about Pasadena is the number of old buildings that have been restored. When the city decided to revive Old Town I'm glad that they decided to keep the old buildings intact...my old Hometown Glendale has a mish mosh of old and (ugly) new...
