KB, Criterion Books is on the second floor across the street from McLeod's. I've been up there once (maybe twice). It was a long time ago. I'll pay them another visit the next time I'm downtown.
s.c. I have never eaten at the Smile Diner. It fits into the ubiquitous category of Chinese/Canadian Cuisine, egg foo yung, mushroom fried rice, breaded veal cutlet, denver omelet, etc. Unless I'm very much mistaken every single Canadian city, big or small, has the equivalent of the Smile Diner. In this neighbourhood it wouldn't survive if the menu weren't priced affordably.

Beautiful header by the way. I must admit the color of the dinner jumps on you but if it is an invitation. I don't know.
I'm more intrigued by the bookstore.
