The alley behind Save-On-Meats.
The store is gutted now and is apparently going to be a market of some sort after renovations.
The neon sign is an historic landmark so it won't surprise me if the new enterprise retains the name.
This alley is pretty safe but MILL does not endorse hanging around in DTES alleys.

When pigs fly.

like this pic a lot
Wayne, this is a very interesting photo and it almost appears that the pig is looking over the human in the photo. Historic neon signs should be saved, even if there are flying pigs.
Thanks for the thoughtful comment on my blog today.

That pig is sending some mixed messages.
Hmmm, now that you mention it KB ….
… it does seem blissfully ignorant.
Was that the home of the slogan, "We hae meat that ye can eat"? That sign always impressed me as a kid in its utterly mysterious use of language.
Good memory Lou!
That was the slogan of J.Inglis Reid a butcher shop at 559 Granville St.
Here's a link if you're interested. Scroll down to Departures.
In all the times I walked by there I never went in. Now I'm regretting it.
