Murrin Substation

BC Hydro is owner and custodian of more than one architecturally significant building in Vancouver. They seem to be content to let them deteriorate.

To the best of my knowledge they do a pretty good job of looking after the electrical components.

I've cropped the shots to eliminate the missing architectural elements.

That's retty impressive for a substation! It looks like a waterfall - perhaps it's meant to.

Electricians (electrical engineers???) aren't all that into architectural preservation I'd think.

Regardless of the state of preservation, you managed to capture a delightful snippet of historical architecture...now, go kick those electrical engineers in the proverbial --- !!!

They've been promising for decades to restore their Del Grauer Substation.

A wonderful building built in the 60s, you could see the inner components through the windows. It was a bit like a Mondrian painting, each component a different primary colour.

Eons ago they had an explosion and replaced the glass with plexi. The plexi is yellowed and scratched and nothing is visible inside.
