Looking Back

It occurred to me, as I waited for the bus, that this Cordova Street scene, if carefully composed, had not changed much since Vancouver's early days.

The result would have been somewhat more effective without 'Brown' hogging the scene.

Nice shot. I remember Cordova street in the fifties as being rather more seedy but that was probably the low point of the area. Looks quite trendy here - french restaurant and sidewalk tables.

What's Brown? Do you mean the UPS van? I actually think it could look a bit like one of those boxy shaped vintage cars if you squint at it a bit (OK, perhaps a lot).

Wayne, this is a beautiful shot of the classic facades along this street. I love that lamppost behind the UPS truck. Very nice.

BM, it gets real sleazy two or three blocks east.

Ruby, you got it. this seems to be a nickname for UPS.

Thanks Jill, it just suddenly dawned on me that there were no modern buildings on these blocks. This is, technically, part of Gastown but tourists don't wander here as much. The lamp posts are a Gastown feature.

Beautiful old buildings here Wayne. It could use a few stray puppies and kittens though. Maybe they're hiding behind the big brown box.

WHat great old buildings! I'd love to shoot some of the details of the facades. I've been meaning to do that downtown in LA, too. There are some amazing old places there.

I love this image -- even with Brown! :-)

BTW, Wayne, it's so great to see a picture of you as an avatar!
