Verandah

One more pic (ok, two) before we bid a fond farewell to Crescent Beach. In it's early years Crescent Beach would have been a weekend or summer holiday destination. It's commuting distance to Vancouver now but I doubt many would have made the daily trip in it's early days.

What would once have been seasonal cottages and summer homes is now effectively a suburb of Vancouver, albeit a sleepy, out the way one. Some of the houses on the waterfront are, how to put this, monstrosities. But others look original and exude charm and character.

That's a beautiful house. It looks like it belongs on a tropical island.

That is a cute cottage...I imagine the newer cottages wouldn't be worthy of art.

i love the word verandah, we call them porches but verandah sounds so much more....exotic? well the word conjures up flowers, hummingbirds and pretty views...

I love a good monstrosity crammed in the middle of a neighborhood of tasteful cottages.
