The Idiot Factor

Pardon me while I wax philosophical.

Why do we post signs directed at morons? Anyone whose knuckles don't drag on the ground knows not to dump garbage at the side of the road. The knuckle-draggers will ignore the sign.

Thank you for your forbearance.

This is the road leading to the UBC Farm. The farm is currently threatened by development. I'll post another pic tomorrow with a link to information. Plus, at no extra charge, I'll throw in my usual brand of level headed, unbiased and only occasionally factual editorializing.

I get extremely angry at people who dump their garbage out the window. I just don't get it. And you are 100% right about who will ignore the sign.

Also, thanks for your comment on my blog. You were probably right that they were focusing that article on the wine industry. Sometimes I wonder if that's all that exists here. Let's ignore the fact that there are 2 colleges (one very prestigious) and a university (with a very good reputation). Who cares about the college town feel? Who cares about the close-knit community? Who cares about the local talent? It's all about the wine.

There...my soapbox for the morning. :o)

W,
Knuckle draggers, they're the same no matter where you live. I loved the gorgeous ferns etc. growing right there by the "Don't Litter You Morons" sign. Answered your mailbox question on my blog. Thanks for stopping by. Love your comments. Any song requests? I'd love to have some!

Well, I once saw a case where some ticketed for dumping trash illegally said, "but there wasn't a sign that said not to do it." There ya go - establishing the need for "signs."

My husband chuckles at the directions on his prescription - 'take by mouth'.

While strolling the state capitol grounds the other day, I noticed McDonalds trash on the ground and ketchup smeared on one of the sculptures. I imagine the maintenance workers thoughts when they see things like this.

I honked at a litterer the other day. The idiot thought I was waving hello. If the light hadn't been about to change to green, I would have exited the car, picked up their trash and handed it back to them.

Grrrrr.

Beautiful picture, by the way. Too bad the morons ruin it for the rest of us.

"take by mouth" is one of my favorites, too.

This is great, Wayne. The shot is gorgeous and your commentary is hilarious and spot-on. Other favorite no-brainer sign:

"Don't Leave Children Unattended."

DUH!

Lest we forget, in the US before Lady Bird Johnson's campaign called "America the Beautiful", roadsides were plastered with trash of every description! Looks like we're all due for more public awareness movements. Violators should be required to eat whatever they tossed.

Maybe the sign is requesting people not to relieve themselves in the bushes? ;)
