Chan

The Chan Centre is one of my favourite buildings. Located on the UBC campus the Chan houses 3 venues, the main hall, the smaller Telus theatre and a cinema. The main hall is something to see.

One unique feature of the Chan is that when standing in the lobby all that patrons can see is forest just feet away. There is no hint of civilization looking out from the lobby.

After viewing several shots taken from different angles for creative effect, in the end, I chose the plain old vanilla shot.

Architect: Bing Thom
Completed: 1997

I'm off galavanting. I've pre-scheduled posts until 9/15 for consistency but I'll be reading comments while I'm away.

This is gorgeous. Thanks for the link to check out the interior. (WOW!) Ever been to an event there?

amazing shots--both of the exterior and interior--I've been to Vancouver once (in 1994--before this building was done)--it looks like its time for another visit...

Pretty! Love the plants growing on the building. And I am so envious! Our university has yet to get a decent performing arts and film center.

Enjoy your vacation! Be safe.

Gosh, the building doesn't look that big... Sounds fascinating.
