Renting a car in LA would no doubt save some travel time.
But looking for and paying for parking has it's own problems.
So I take the bus like these guys waiting for Santa Monica's Big Blue Bus.
As a senior (62+) I can ride all day on the Big Blue Bus for $1.50.
Fares that economical are unheard of in Vancouver.

Now all you need is the $10 Senior lifetime Federal Interagency pass that gets you into all our national parks and more!!! I just got mine!!!
