In any given month at least one oriental rug store in seems to be going out of business. There are a few long established stores in town, Ararat, East India ...
But for most of them going out of business is their business.
It is their way of getting customers in, giving folks the impression that there is a drop in prices. I have visited a couple of these shops when I lived in Vancouver. The prices are still high and a couple of months and on it goes the shop is still open even though the signs say they are shutting down. Yes odd signs!

But the smily is still there.
Going out of business is also a business here in Ontario.
Ha! Good point!
And it all does seem very "bizarre" doesn't it :) lol

It's the same here - they've been going out of business for 20 years!
Perhaps the only salesmen to trust less than used car dealers is Oriental rug merchants. Great colors in your photos.
That's not unique to Vancouver. Really nice composition, though. Bazaar to the vanishing point.
I need one for my dining room. Get me a deal W.
