A Snake's Head Fritillary, or ...

_DSC7619
... chess flower, frog cup, guinea-hen flower, leper lily, Lazarus bell, checkered lily.
Monday I was at Van Dusen Gardens taking lots of pictures.
Sometimes I remember to take a picture of the labels but I had to look this one up at home.

Beautiful flower. I remember this flower from some still life paintings from the 17th century by Hans Bollongier or Boulenger from Haarlem. Flowers where his specialty.

Wayne I never knew you were into photographing flowers. This shot has convinced me that you should do it more often.

Stunning! Love the Van Dusen Gardens. Never made it on the weekend. Too busy visiting my mother and friends.

Thanks for the comments.

I'll never be a gardener again but the camera has me looking much more closely at plants and flowers.

It looks like a Tiffany lamp. What's it got to do with leprosy?
