It was a dark and stormy night ...

Sunday Feature -  Another Place, Another Time

... when I crossed Howrah Bridge in a tuk-tuk in 1986. (see below)
I've always regretted not walking across in the daylight on that trip.
On my recent trip I did walk over the bridge to Howrah station.

Turns out, in the morning, most of Calcutta is walking in the opposite direction.

But I made it.
At the far end the police told me photographs weren't permitted for security reasons.
That wasn't the first, or last time, I was told that.

By the way, many of the shots I got on this trip would not have been possible if I hadn't had the loan of redstilettoviews' long lens.

What a difference in these shots - one is teeming with people and one is completely empty save for two trucks.
