The Ganges

Sunday Feature - Another Place, Another Time

This is a so-so shot of early morning routine at one of the bathing ghats.
I was in a rowboat, an old, somewhat seaworthy boat, in the river.
These folks can, apparently, cope with the unhealthy state of the river.
If I'd fallen in I doubt I'd have survived.

I'd second your comment. I'm sure it's still a ritual in '12.

The people bathing along the Ganges River believe more in religion than microbiology. Or perhaps being Westerners, their Gods don't protect us?
