Engine 374 ...

CP 374
... pulled the first passenger train to arrive in Vancouver on May 23,1887.
The poor old engine sat outdoors in a Kitsilano Beach parking lot for decades.
Kids, my brothers and I included, climbed all over it.
For the past 25 years or so it's had a sheltered home next to the original CP roundhouse in Yaletown.

25 years since they covered her up?! Wow, where does the time go - I remember her well on the beach.

Wayne, thanks for the URL for pictures of engine SP 4449. That was a high point in steam design. Great colors.
