Foiled Again

_DSC6209
I was about 7 meters from this heron.
But it was frustrating to only have a 50mm lens. (equal to 75mm on my camera)
I'm saving up for a longer one.

Unfortunately he gets a little camoflauged by the foliage. Good try. Still a prime lens is a nice one to have!

You still got close to a bird that spooks easily. Trying save for another lens is like being on a diet. You get distracted by the sweet things in life.

Size matters when it comes to herons.

A good lens to consider would be Nikon's 16-85. Heck of a nice lens.

That's why I always carry two bodies - a short lens and a long one. The bag does tend to get a bit heavy though. :D

I feel your pain Wayne!!! I have a telephoto lens for my D70s, but it doesn't have stabilization on it and is almost worthless to me unless I use a tripod...which renders it worthless as I never use a tripod!!! I had to use it in the Galapagos because my other lens had problems...shots weren't as clear as I would've liked... Keep saving those pennies...they do add up!!!
You did well with your prime!!! (that's a lens I've wanted to get!!!)
