This can't be done without a tripod, or a garbage can, or a sturdy railing.
I used a tripod because they're easier to carry to carry around than garbage cans.

Ha ha, I know what you mean. I was thinking about leaving my old tripod in the garbage a while back.

Great night shot. I can sympathize re: the tripod. It's a real pain, but it's always worth it when you upload those photos afterward and get million dollar photo.
