George Gobel used to have a joke in his routine about taking his girlfriend (later his wife I think) on dates. She'd sit in the front basket of his bike. According to George she became known as 'old waffle bottom'
Very colorful and updated versions of the old wicker chairs. Around here you see a lot of Adidorondack (sp?) chairs. I was just in Florida and saw plastic versions of those venerable chairs as well.
BTW, thanks for your comment on my blog and catching the movie allusion. It must be an age thing; but I'd like to think it was my movie knowledge, rather than my age.
Back in the late 60s, early 70s it seemed like every one had the wicker/cane version of this chair.

They make a great picture but I guess they're not so comfortable.
Especially if they've been sitting in the summer sun for a few hours :-)
But they're such a great, colorful subject for a photo!!! Very fun pic Wayne!!!
