The shoes over the branches or telephone lines is a sign someone ripped someone off. Its better to go barefoot than get a punch in the mouth. I have learned to love the DTES and after a year of eating, smelling, sleeping and living on the corner of Main and Hasting I truly understand...Pain and Wasting. Thank-you for making my POP-UP story come alive with your Carnival Band. It helped make for a REAL SURREAL ending.

Lucky indeed. Lucky you got that great shot too!
Looks like they released you from ICU. You must have gotten this one on your way home.:)
You're very lucky indeed. The hanging tennis shoes is a gang sign that drugs are sold here. And I don't mean Nyquil.
I've heard that about the tennis shoes before Karin. It's redundant on the DTES, the biggest open drug market in the world.
You certainly wouldn't want to go around antagonizing people (by taking their pictures for example) but it's pretty safe otherwise.
That's what the shoes are all about? WEll son of a gun. That's pretty amazing. I swear Hiker knows everything!

Hiker beat me to it!!! As soon as I saw them, I thought the same thing...
Glad you're feeling better W...
