Harbour Air

The float plane companies are temporarily located here until the Trade and Convention Centre is completed.

These planes fly mostly to Vancouver Island. But other companies fly up the coast or to smaller islands. It costs $130.00 to fly one-way Vancouver to Victoria.

Tomorrow, another transportation hub.

wow, what a gorgeous picture. It doesn't look too cold here!

I've never seen one of these airplanes in person. Have you ever flown on one? I've often wondered what it would be like to land on the water.

Sharon, I"ve never flown in a Beaver or an Otter or a float plane. I've been on a few bumpy rides in Cessnas. The seaplane base is busy with planes taking off and landing every few minutes during the day.

Laurie, It wasn't cold on the day I took this. It's colder now but there is still virtually no snow on the mountains which seems to be surprising most people. The little snow that was up there seems to be melting.
This will change fairly soon and we'll all, except skiers, be whining.

I've been in those planes several times traveling up into the San Juan Islands/Washington. Very noisy and take-off feels strange. Getting on and off the planes can be tricky, too, jumping to the dock.

Oh I would be too chicken to fly in one of those but I'll bet that's no surprise. Tricky take-off? Yikes. Tricky getting on and off? Yep I'd be in the water in no time. Guess I'll have to pass W.

Like Sharon, I've never seen a seaplane in person either. I think I'd be too chicken to land on the water though.

And what an awesome vista!

I think this is what you call the "high life". Too rich for me!

I'd like to fly a seaplane, nevermind be a passenger. It's really refreshing for me to see womeone else's harbour other than my own. It's a glorious sight too.

Beautoful shot of the harbour. The seaplanes must be like busy taxis.
