A Friday View Of Some of Our Mountains

Until this snowy cold snap is at an end I'm going to put Public Art Day in abeyance.

The mountains never look so good as when they are snow covered. This won't be the last shot of the North Shore Mountains this winter.

I'll try to get a shot of the mountains with a fresh snowfall. According to the forecast that will be Sunday.

Lovely Vancouver scene - and how clever of you to arrange for that red tanker!

Oh what a great shot of the mountains. I so love the views I enjoy when I'm in Vancouver. Still aim to live there before too long.

Beautiful. I love the red tanker, too!

Unlike most of the photographers in this group I guess I am lacking when it comes to observing details. I didn't even see that gigantous red thing sitting there as big as life! I read the comments and had to go back and look again. For pete sake. Well those mountains are pretty spectacular with or without snow but I do want to see more of them. Could you maybe climb one so we could get a better look , huh????

Oh yeah CLW, I'll take a hike up there tomorrow. Not!

Grouse Mountain isn't in this shot but it's in the banner shot I've just put up. It's easy enough to get to the top of Grouse on the gondola. There is also the Grouse Grind which I think of as a yuppie workout. It's a trail that many athletic types test themselves on by trying to get to the top as fast as they can. I haven't been within 5 miles of it.

Laurie/Lindab,I took several shots here but the red freighter made this one a no-brainer for me.

Rob, once you get here I'll be able to retire.

Wayne you have just take a technically very proficient image. I won't bog you down in the vernacular but rule of thirds applied. It's also aesthetically gorgeous. You've got my gold star today.

Thanks Babs. It's not false modesty, it was probably just luck. About 4 years ago I took a class for 3 consecutive Saturdays on photography and I've honestly forgotten all of it. What I have remembered, from somewhere, is that it's best not to the subject (the freighter in this case) or the horizon in the middle of the shot.

I'm very grateful for the compliment.

Banner photo is fab. How long will it take you to get to the tippy top of that mountain??? Don't forget your tripod,

Fantastic shot of the mountains and your sprawling city! That red ship stands out.
