Transflextion

Public Art Day. This piece does not appear on the Public Art Registry. The artist, Arnt Arntzen, seems to have installed it on his own. You can see a photo of the installation on his website.

Strathcona is one of the oldest neighbourhoods in the city and it's a popular place to live as it is easy walking distance to downtown. There are plenty of character homes in the area and many have been carefully restored. I'll take another trip into the area one of these days and try to get some more photos.

Occasionally I kick myself because 20 years ago any house in Strathcona would have gone for a song. Not now.

this seems so suburban, in contrast to the Vancouver that I saw, which was just filled with tinted green modern buildings.
the vibe seems low key and sedate. Nice.

Ah, hindsight is a wonderful thing. I'm kicking myself for not buying a flat in London in the mid-90s when I (briefly) had a chance.

Cool art though - I like it.

They still go for a song you know, there are just a lot more verses in them now!

Ah hind sight is always 20/20 years ago we could have bought in a town called Unionville for next to nothing now a days the properties sell for a million or more.

A ride in a time machine might be useful (and lucrative). It looks like a pleasant place to live and anything in walking distance of the centre has got to be good news.

I'm not entirely sure about the installation though..

I love this place! I've never explored that area of Vancouver. When my husband and I were considering relocating there, it came up all the time as the place to check out.

The artist's site was interesting. I really like the bear with the fish. Look forward to more shots of this neighborhood.

I forgot, my friend always says that when we could have bought a house for a song, we didn't HAVE a song!
